I ordered the stub nib as a supplement to my regular F nib. It writes very well and has added a nice character to my writing.
A good product. Easy to install. Quickly dispatched as always. Brilliant service as ever.
Arrived very quickly
I think these are Bock. It comes with the feed. There's little to say other than mine worked well. I bought a replacement because my previous Leonardo nib was never great and although I can work on nibs I could never seem to get a good performance out of it.
Nib is good. I already own a fine nib and wanted to try a medium and a stub. The medium was as I expected to be, not too thick, not too thin, but it had some hard starts at the beginning, not so much to be bothersome, but still, not perfect. I cleaned it carefully and after some writing it feels as it has settled in. (The same thing happened to another pen I have, after I cleaned it and wrote for a while it stopped doing hard starts). I will see how it goes. Stub seems fine on that matter, although I did not use it for a long time. I like the feeling and how the letters look, I like how the ink behaves, but I am too used to a fine line at the moment (first time using a stub). I would love this if I was writing letters or for fun. For practical reasons I am sticking to my fine at the moment which writes perfectly, although I may switch to the medium later on.
So the story begins with a Leonardo Momento Zero Grande with an EF nib that I'd bought from Fontoplumo (Ask Frank or sign up for the news letter for the current discount code... it won't do any harm). I draw with fountain pens so a very thin line is essential. The EF nib on this pen though had a line that was close to a medium point. I referenced this in my review of the pen. When Frank saw my review, he kindly sent me a replacement EF nib unit. What service... So, Ladies and Gentlemen I commend the excellent Frank van Krieken. Review of the replacement nib:
What is it:
It is a Leonardo branded Bock number 6 steel nib.
Number 6 nib in steel.
Nib shape in steel... There are no sharp threads, it's a nib. I wouldn't try posting it because it'll look like a wand!
it's as heavy as a nib.
Replacement of original nib:
The new nib came in a screw-in nib unit. The Momento Zero Grande does not house a screw-in nib unit, it's a simple pull out nib and ebonite feed. So, from the nib unit Frank sent, just gently twist out the nib and plastic feed. Use rubber or leather grippers to gain traction during this process. Now simply push the new nib in to the pen with the ebonite feed.
Looks like stainless steel. It's a nib.
The new nib is superb and gives an acceptable EF line. I'm happy with how it draws and sketches. With the new nib I would amend the rating of my Momento Zero Grande Sand to 5 stars.
It's a nib!"
Love this nib in my Momento Zero fountain pen, and have purchased extras for use in several of my other fountain pens. Thanks for making these nibs available to us, Frank.
My first stub. It is a delight to use. The letters flow effortlessly from the pen. Smooth writing. Now I want more stubs...
Ordered a new EF steel nib for my Leonardo Momento Zero and it arrived and works superbly. (An inexperienced pen user slightly bent the original nib when I let them try the pen. I won't do that again!)
I have three Momento Zeros with medium nibs, which are among the best nibs I own. Excellent flow, very smooth, very wet, no hard starts. I thought I would try other nibs to see how they compare. The stub is wet and smooth, but prone to hard starts. The fine is not as wet as my Jowo fine nibs. The Bock medium nib on these pens is really a cut above any other steel medium (I prefer them to most gold nibs). But I can't say the same for the fine and stub.
These are beautiful understated nibs that fit my Leonardo Momento Zero perfectly. (They also fit other Bock #6 sized feed / collar units) They arrived packaged well and worked well immediately. These steel nibs aren't rigid nails but have a slight amount of give or bounce to them. They have become my favorite steel nibs to write with.
These Leonardo Nibs are very well made, easy to fit and add much to the overall attractiveness and appeal of their fountain pen products. The nibs perform extremely well and are both smooth and tactile instruments to use, providing just the right amount of feedback. The stub nib is multi-directional, allowing an easily controlled variation to line width. This feature greatly adds to the individual ""expression"" that can be revealed within ones handwriting. Overall an excellent product for a very reasonable price and highly recommended
I purchased this as a replacement / swap nib for my Momento Zero, and it works very well. Nice finish, aligned properly, and as always the service from Fontoplumo is great!
Good nib, I like it a lot. It has a slight bounce, but by no means is it a soft let alone flex nib. I noticed that the B I had was running fairly wide, while this M is a lot narrower. This nib in the Momento Zero (resin) makes it to one of my favourites.
Usual excellent Bock quality and performance. Had I known it to be a standard Bock nib, inscription aside, I would have forgone the 100% mark-up
Great nibs at a reasonable price.
Excellent product. Ordered a medium in silver color. Writes like a dream. Highly recommended. To interchange the nibs on your Momento Zero you just gently pull out the nib unit, don't try to screw it out.
