Named after the Black Eagle Palace of Nagyvárad (Oradea, RO). The old city center is a beautifully restored art piece and one of it’s crown jewels is the Black Eagle Palace. I spent three years in Oradea for my Bachelor of Arts degree and in that time I had the chance to see the main square many times both before and after restoration. If you are ever doing a tour of Transylvania be sure to stop in Oradea.
The palace, designed by Marcell Komor and Dezso Jakab, has become one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings in Transylvania. The stained-glass window with the black eagle, which became the symbol of the city, was made in the Neumann workshop in Oradea.
