Product description

The Montblanc Patron of Art Edition in 2022 is dedicated to Queen Victoria & Prince Albert. The Limited Edition 4810 is a remarkable couple edition, one edition is honouring Queen Victoria and another one her consort Prince Albert.
The Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Albert Limited Edition 4810 is celebrating the young Albert and comes with a pearl white lacquered barrel as well as a cap in translucent burgundy-tone lacquer with a special pattern underneath. The fittings are champagne-tone gold-coated. The clip shape is a tribute to his wife's sceptre and is adorned with a red synthetic stone. The cap top is inspired by the crystal palace's dome and is adorned with the Montblanc emblem made from white precious resin. While the cap ring features the engraved quote "treu und fest", a special engraving decorates the cone. As an homage to his personal coat of arms, the handcrafted solid Au 750 gold nib bears an embossing inspired by the coat of arms of Saxony.

Nibs other than F or M are available via a nib exchange.

Homage to Albert Limited Edition 4810 The Young Albert

Albert was born as Schloss Rosenau, near Coburg, Germany, the 2nd son of Ernest III, Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and his 1st wife, Louise of Saxe-Gotha- Altenburg.
Albert’s future wife, Victoria was born earlier in the same year with the assistance of the same midwife, Charlotte von Siebold.
In 1825, Albert’s great-uncle, Frederick IV, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg, died. His death let to a realignment of Saxon duchies the following year and Albert’s father became the 1st reigning duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
Albert and his elder brother, Ernest spent their youth in a close companionship marred their parents’ turbulent marriage and eventual separation and divorce. The brothers were educated privately at home by Christoph Florschütz and later studied in Brussels, where Adolphe Quetelt was one of their tutors. Like many other German princes, Albert attended the University of Bonn, where he studied law, political economy, philosophy and the history of art. He played music and excelled at sport, especially fending and riding.

Cap & Barrel
The color composition of the cap top, cap barrel is inspired by Prince Albert’s uniform.
The pattern on the cap refers to Albert’s childhood house
Cap top inspired by the crystal palace in Hyde Park. Albert took an active interest in the arts, science, trade and industry; the project for which he is best remembered was the Great Exhibition of 1851, the profits from which he helped to establish the South Kensington museums complex in London. Created for and symbol of the Great Exhibition, the Crystal Palace, imagined by Prince Albert, to be removable.

Cap ring „Treu und Fest“ („faithful and firm“), a line of Prince Albert‘s personal coat of arm, perfectly representing his personality and the direction he gave to the Kingdom during Queen Victoria’s reign. As homage his personal motto “TREU UND FEST” is engraved at the cap ring.
