Product description

“Wabi Sabi” the beauty and appreciation of things impermanent and imperfect; the acceptance of the flow of life.

The Urushi artist Wayo Shimamori has created these special King of Pens in two colors using the Urushi technique or ‘Irogasane Sabinuri’ and has signed and numbered each pen.
The limited edition consisist of only 88 pens per color.

As these pens are hand made / painted, each pen may vary from this product picture.

A special spiritual concept from ancient Japan.
‘Wabi’ is the feeling in the heart of calmness, of quiet, and of simple appearance.
‘Sabi’ is the visual beauty of things humble, unconventional, and unrefined
-The beauty of Ageing and the continuous cycle of Life.
‘Wabi Sabi’ combines the spirit and concepts of both these values.

I purchased this pen this weekend at the Dallas Pen Show. I think they're ugly in the pictures but in person, both are really beautiful. I saw them about 5 months ago in a pen shop and played with a green one for over an hour. I finally talked myself out of it due to the price, but I couldn't stop thinking about it.
When I saw it again at the pen show, I struggled again with the price (I've never spent that much on a single pen) but finally gave in to it. I LOVE it!!
Interestingly, I saw 2 versions of the green: one very dark (nearly black) and more subtle, the other more of a jade green. Very different! The red was dark and also beautiful.
