Product description

The Gioia Capodimonte Van Gogh fountain pen with rhodium trim

Capodimonte means "top of the hill".
The Royal Palace of Capodimonte (in Italian: Reggia di Capodimonte) is a large palace in Naples, Italy. It was formerly the summer residence and hunting lodge of the Bourbon kings of the Two Sicilies, one of the two royal palaces in Naples. Today, it comprises the National Museum of Capodimonte and the Royal Forest . The palace was constructed on its somewhat cooler hilltop location just outside the city, with urban Naples ultimately expanding around it.

About Gioia
From an idea of Fabio Cervasio and the collaboration of great master craftsmen with twenty years of experience in the pen production sector, "GIOIA writing emotion" was born with Neapolitan genius and imagination. As early as 2014, Gioia Pen Italia's technical laboratory and artisan workshop began on commissions for well-known Italian, international and institutional brands, to design and produce wonderful writing instruments. Gioia Pen Italia produces fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoint pens with rigorous quality controls, hand turned from bars full of resins produced in Italy, ebonite, celluloid etc., with the aid of mechanisms, nibs and refills recognized throughout the world. Finally, in 2020, Gioia Pen Italia has decided to get the attention of the whole world.
Gioia means Joy in Italian and is pronounced 'Joya'

It feels a little bit odd to review my Gioia Van Gogh, because it is my 4th Gioia fountain pen. I have really fallen down the rabbit hole when it comes to Gioia's pens overall. They are all gorgeous, well made and like the name says, a joy to write with. I had decided that 3 were enough but when I saw the Van Gogh, it had to join the gang.
The deal breaker was the colours! I love summer, swimming and the Ocean, and this pen has all the right colours in my book. Mint green to cobalt blue and everything in between. The pen is like a Rorschach test. I swear that I can see a grinning pirate on mine!
I also love the fact that this Gioia has a cigar shape which means that the Rorschach test goes all the way out to the very tips of the pen.
As usual, it is a heavy pen that lies comfortably in your hand. The weight and nice grip makes it a great writer for long sessions. As for the nib, it flows great. Even after being customized in to a needle point.
Despite loving all my Gioias, this pen quickly jumped up to becoming my favourite.
