Following the exclusive series of writing instruments “Sanctus Michael Archangelus” and the “Iesus”, celebrating the Orthodox and the Catholic religions, the Tibaldi Al-Aqsa pen pays tribute to Islam, the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Located in the Old City of Jerusalem, this prayer house is considered the third holiest site in the Islamic world after Mecca and Medina. Muslims believe that Muhammad was transported from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to Al-Aqsa during the Night Journey. Islamic tradition also holds that “Muhammad led prayers towards this site until the seventeenth month after the emigration, when God directed him to turn towards the Kaaba.”
Thanks to its miraculous survival through the centuries, the edifice of the Al-Aqsa Mosque nowadays bears a major monumental value for the Islamic religious heritage and architecture.
Having wrapped the image of the Al-Aqsa Mosque around the pen’s barrel in black resin, Tibaldi’s designers recreated many of its details in relief. The impressive yellow-gold plated dome, arch-shaped entrance and a number of exquisite arabesque patterns are reproduced in precious Sterling Silver, hand-engraved and perforated to show the colors of the painting’s background through the apertures. Hand-painted by Tibaldi’s talented artist Lorena Straf, one can yet appreciate the virtuous miniature of the Mosque external mosaics.
The Tibaldi Al-Aqsa will be available as a limited edition of only 272 rollerball pens and 184 fountain pens in Sterling Silver, numbers signify the measures of the Mosque itself -272 feet long and 184 feet wide.
