Hello Tello Sphinx of Delft
Description
Johannes Vermeer, often referred to as the "Sphinx of Delft," was a 17th-century Dutch painter known for his masterful use of light and color. Vermeer was born in Delft in 1632 and spent his entire life in the city. His work is characterized by a serene and intimate atmosphere, often depicting people in domestic interiors. His most famous works include "Girl with a Pearl Earring," "The Milkmaid," and "View of Delft." He had an exceptional talent for depicting light and shadow, giving his paintings an almost photographic quality.
Despite his talent and the beauty of his works, Vermeer remained relatively unknown during his lifetime. It was not until the 19th century that his work was rediscovered by Thoré-Bürger and his genius began to be recognized. Today, Vermeer is considered one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age.
