To honour this pioneering French master and his extraordinary legacy, Montblanc has unveiled the Masters of Art Homage to Henri Matisse Limited Edition 4810.

A Tribute in Blue and White

The design draws inspiration from Matisse's fearless use of colour, particularly evident in his masterpiece Blue Nude III. The pen features striking blue and white lacquer paired with platinum-coated fittings that capture the essence of this iconic work. What initially appears as an abstract composition of white and blue reveals itself when rotated—a graceful female figure emerges, inviting the viewer to discover the artistry within.

Sculptural Elegance and Botanical Inspiration

The generously rounded, almost sculptural cap reflects Matisse's mastery across multiple artistic disciplines. His sculptures, known for their pronounced curves and organic forms, directly influenced this pen's distinctive silhouette. The cap top showcases blue precious resin encircling the Montblanc emblem in white precious resin, while the platinum-coated cone features a delicate botanical pattern. The elliptical shapes evoke flower petals—elements that captivated Matisse throughout his creative life.

Craftsmanship Meets Artistry

The hand-crafted nib, fashioned from solid Au 750 gold and rhodium-coated, represents a harmonious blend of nature and artistic expression. It bears embossed botanical elements inspired by The Sheaf, one of Matisse's celebrated cut-out works. Interwoven letters 'H' and 'M' honour the great innovator of Modernism. The white lacquered clip, with its organic, leaf-like form, echoes the multi-coloured arrangement found in The Sheaf, completing a design that celebrates Matisse's revolutionary vision.
