Description

Meet the upgraded Sentry fountain pen, the larger sibling of Gravitas entry-level model. Though slightly heavier and bigger than its counterpart, the Sentry remains comfortable and user-friendly, thanks to its well-balanced, weighted section. With triple-start cap ACME threads, the cap smoothly disengages with just 2.25 turns and now features a Delrin sleeve for posting with no marks left on the barrel.

Machined from a solid rod of Aluminium - the new Sentry is featuring a finish not used till now by Gravitas the Anodised - Bead Blasting, a unique texture that further refines the experience of using one of these writing instruments. Different from previous versions - the Sentry features two o-rings : - a black one that ensures the link in between the section and barrel is solid - a red one that ensures the cap's airtightness and prevents the cap from coming off when its not needed.

The Sentry is equipped with a size 6 steel nib, compatible* with Jowo No. 6 threads, and an ABS plastic feeder, offering a range of nib options. Each Sentry fountain pen comes with a standard international converter.

*when swapping for a different nib unit you are sole responsible for checking the fitment of the new nib - we are not responsible for any damages that may occur from the use of non Gravitas nibs/nib units.

I probably succumbed to the glowing reviews of the Gravitas brand. And so I bought a Gravitas Sentry Aluminium Black fountain pen with a fine nib from Fontoplumo. As usual, the pen was delivered the day after I placed my order. My compliments for that!

The fountain pen feels nice and sturdy, has a good length, and fits nicely in my hand. The design reminds me of a number of Lamy models. I find the fine nib writes smoothly, a little too smoothly, and tends towards medium in my opinion. I am considering ordering an extra fine nib from Fontoplumo. What I really like are the micro-ribs on the section. This, in combination with the length of the section. The micro-ribs give you the feeling that the pen helps to guide your hand, as it were.
The red O-ring at the end of the screw thread where you tighten the cap seems to me to be a part that could come loose. If that happens to me, I trust that Gravitas will be able to supply the appropriate O-ring for years to come.
