Description

Pelikan pioneered the differentiated piston mechanism in 1929, featuring a spindle that turns faster than the barrel’s end piece thanks to two distinct threads. This innovative design remains at the heart of many fountain pen variations today. Launched in 1950, the Model 400—with its iconic green-striped barrel—became a global symbol of Pelikan’s craftsmanship. Known as the Souverain series since the 1980s, the tortoise-white edition from 2004 draws inspiration from the 1950s model, showcasing a tortoise-brown transparent ink chamber and a delicately gold-striped sleeve. Crafted from specially developed cotton material, the sleeve undergoes meticulous shaping and diamond-cutting, seamlessly integrating Pelikan’s signature double clips. Polished to a brilliant shine, this pen combines timeless elegance with precise engineering, making it a standout writing instrument.
